I have always had a sense of humor; after all, the name “Isaac” is a Hebrew name that means “laughter.” When I was a kid, I used my sense of humor to make fun of people. After also being made fun of, I quickly reconsidered this. I now use my sense of humor to teach people about God and share the joy of the Lord.
As long as I can remember, my dad has had a heart for the poor. My mom has suffered from bipolar disorder for several years. Combine these two factors (my mom and dad) with me feeling like an outcast when I was made fun of, and it caused me have a heart to help the down-and-out. I once felt down-and-out, my dad has a heart for the down-and-out, and my mom has also been someone who has felt down-and-out.
People frequently tell me, “you are different,” and sometimes, “you are weird!” God has made me different so I can reach out to people who may feel out of place and help make them comfortable with who God made them. Shy people are no longer shy after they meet me. I bring out the sense of humor in people, sometimes without even trying. That’s why my ministry’s slogan is “Sharing the joy of the Lord!” There is joy and laughter in serving God. A merry heart does good like a medicine.
